LA CONFIDENTIAL - SOUND

In the opening credits of Curtis Hanson’s LA Confidential, the song Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive is playing while Danny Devito delivers an upbeat narration of life in Los Angeles in the 1950’s and setting up the story of the film. As the story unfolds, much of the instrumental music adds to the heightened drama and suspense especially in the scenes where police officers Bud White (Russell Crowe) and Ed Exley (Guy Pearce) are interrogating suspects. The music makes a soft transition to a more sensual and intimate level during the love scenes between White and Lynn Bracken (Kim Basinger). The movie’s score has a nostalgic tone reminiscent of film noir which helps to enhance the story specifically of the time period of the film.

Here is the opening title sequence with the song Actuate the Positive and Danny DeVito’s narration.
