THE BULLYING EFFECT
I was bullied for 7 years from sixth grade to twelfth grade. I was physically, verbally and emotionally harassed and tormented on a daily basis. I was called fag, gay, queer, homo every day. I was punched, hit, spit on, kicked and objects thrown at me. I spent my time trying to get to my classes taking the long way to avoid bullies. I tried to find different ways to get home daily where I wouldn't encounter my bullies.
Teachers, counselors and students all witnessed my abuse. I never told my family about the bullying at the time. Did I ever think of retaliation? Hell yes, all the time! I longed for Carrie White to come burn down my high school. Although all of this abuse occurred decades ago, I am here to say, the pain does not go away and still has an affect on me today. I was fortunate enough to find solace in movies, music, theatre and television to find my way out of the darkness, the anger, the hate, the frustration. Thank goodness for dreams, goals and aspirations. Follow them. Keep the Faith.
