THE BLUE COLLAR REVIEW - 1991
Are you tired of reading a "professional critic's review of a film, play, or concert and come away feeling that you don't have the slightest idea of what you just read?
Well, I have always wondered how someone becomes a critic. I mean is there a Professionals Critics University you can attend or what? Then I've wondered why would you need to go to college to become a critic when all your really doing is expressing your opinion on something. "Hell, I can do that without going into debt for college tuition."
Another thought I've kicked back and forth through my mind is "Where do they get these people to become critics and why don't they like any of the movies I like?" Generally, the critics seem to respond to Art films and Foreign films far more positively than to an average moviegoers type of movie such as "Ghost" or "Pretty Woman".
Don't get me wrong now, I'm not lashing out at our professional critics here. I do feel that every film made has an audience to be reached whether it's an action adventure, a romantic comedy, or a serious epic. The point is that a critic is in the wonderful position of expressing his or her views and opinions in a public format.
I feel it's time for an average American moviegoer to have the opportunity to express their views on "What's happening today in Films." I think we need a "regular" person who can be objective and tell us what a film is really about.
Well, it is my time and I'm the chosen one to express my views on the latest in films today. So, onto the first review...
